Abstract (English):
National health is currently the most important social value. Students of law are to obtain skills of preserving their own health if they want to learn to protect the health of their clients as part of their future professional activities. Future lawyers need to develop health-preservation skills, i.e., valeological, or health-and-wellness competence. The article contains a review of Russian and foreign publications in science, law, and politics that feature the concepts of health, healthy lifestyle, and valeology, as well as works published by officials engaged in developing national health programs and protection of human rights in the field of healthcare. Methodologically, the research relied on the health-saving approach, applied to the development of health-saving personal and professional skills in law students. An analysis of scientific and pedagogical reports by experienced lawyers revealed a certain gap in health-preservation skills in young lawyers. Personal health preservation correlates with professional skills in law students. Health preservation is as an important professional quality of future lawyers, directly related to their ability to preserve and promote the health of their clients. Russian society needs lawyers whose professional knowledge includes the current issues of healthcare.
