Abstract (English):
The research featured current demographic situation and migration trends in the Kemerovo region (Kuzbass). The analysis revealed a serious out migration. The annual loss of young and employable population hinders the sustainable development of the region. The article focuses on the relevance of studying the migration attitudes (intentions) of the population, especially the effect of the assessment of residency on intentions to migrate. The research objective was to determine the relationship between the assessment of residency and the formation of migration tenets in Kuzbass residents. The research was based on scientific sources, sociological surveys, and a content analysis of related Internet comments. The study revealed that migration tenets of Kuzbass residents are affected not only by economic factors (wages, job opportunities, etc.), but also by factors of non-economic nature, e.g. environmental situation, climate, remoteness from the European part of Russia, etc.
